Obama, is not BLACK JESUS. I just want people know that, I'm extremely disturbed and tired due to a raging party that went on downstairs until 7:30 in them morning all in reverence for Obama.
I'm extremely proud and grateful that our President Elect is an African-American who has broken so many barriers with a message of Love and Hope. Yet I do not fail to see him for what he is, a person. People like Barack Obama, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcom X, John F. Kennedy, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and others walk the fine line between the status of greatness and idolicy. One must not forget that these humans are not infalliable and must be held accountable for their actions.
It means a great deal to a great many people to have a President who stands for so much good in the world. However, he must not be pushed in such a way to attain an idol-like status. Because then we forget to listen to his words and take them as they are. We must remeber that he is representing us as a people, but he is also an individual who can do right and wrong.
I personally am scared for these coming months, because they will be hard. Harder times than America has seen in more than 80 years, and everyone, even on a global scale, is looking towards our president for a solution. A solution is at hand, but the President and his Administration cannot just wave a magic wand and fix the credit crisis, and the housing market (among other things) Barack Obama has said it will take more than a few years to fix this mess that our country is in, but people are still looking for the now.
I just want you to know, that after January 20 things will not change. After February 20th, things will not change. (at least drastically enough for you to see them) this road will be long and hard, and just because we are excited and in good spirit for this upcoming inaugration, we must not forget ourselves. We must not forget we are being led by a man, not so unlike ourselves (one of the reasons we elected him) who can trip and stumble and fall. With these coming times there is not a doubt that he will, (trip at least) and if you believe in what he stands for and what he has set out to do, then you must support him then like you have now. But if he changes, and succumbs to the will of those with self interest, we must not be afraid to call him on it. The hard thing will be defining which is which.
So all this support you're showing now 3B, don't forget it.
